Two hostages, one British and one Italian, were killed during a failed rescue attempt; they were being held by al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. The government has charged a man with serving as a key link between Boko Haram and al Qaeda. A leader of Muslims in Port Harcourt denied that mosques and schools are being used to store weapons and provide military training for Boko Haram.
