Afghan officials blamed the Pakistani government, the ISI, and the Quetta Shura for the assassination of the head of the High Peace Council. The Taliban killed nine Afghan troops in Paktia and an ISAF soldier in the south. Security forces killed and captured several Taliban commanders and fighters in Kandahar, Khost, Wardak, Logar, and Nangarhar.
