The Taliban launched an assault against ISAF headquarters, the US embassy, and two police stations in Kabul. Security forces killed and captured several Taliban and IMU commanders and fighters in Kandahar, Helmand, Khost, Paktia, Nangarhar, Kunar, and Badakhshan.

Iraq: Iranian connected militia member arrested


Yemen

Seven civilians were killed in Yemeni air strikes outside of Sana’a. Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula said the military is killing civilians in airstrikes in the south, and vowed to avenge the bombings.


Somalia

Three people were killed during fighting between Shabaab and a pro-government militia in Dhusamareb. Somali troops arrested three Turkish and 11 Somali aid workers after returning from an area administered by Shabaab.

A court charged eight Boko Haram members for their involvement in a string of bombings in Suleja. Boko Haram threatened to bomb 20 universities throughout the country.


Philippines

Security forces captured Abu Sayyaf commander Jurri Hamsiraji after a firefight in the southern Philippines. Hamsiraji served under a slain Abu Sayyaf leader who was known as Commander Robot.
