Iran

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps denied that it shot down an unmanned US spy plane over a nuclear enrichment plant. An Iranian nuclear scientist and his wife were murdered in front of their home in Tehran.


Somalia

Shabaab freed Asho Osman Aqiil, the female Minister for Women and Family Affairs, after arresting her in Bala earlier this week. Shabaab accused the United Nations of exaggerating the drought and famine situation in Somalia.



United States

A jury convicted Mohammed Wali Zazi of conspiring to obstruct the investigation of a terror plot and destroying bomb making materials. Mohammed attempted to cover up a plot by his son, Najibullah, to carry out bombings on New York City trains.



Norway

Bombings in downtown Oslo killed at least 7 people, and damaged the offices of governmental ministries and news organizations. An al Qaeda-linked jihadist claimed the attack was in retaliation for Norway’s troop deployment in Afghanistan. On the island of Utoeya, a gunman killed at least 20 persons at a political youth camp.

Afghanistan

Security forces killed 50 Haqqani Network fighters during a raid on a training camp in Paktika. Security forces also killed and captured several Taliban and IMU leaders and fighters, and one civilian, in Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul, and Takhar. The Taliban killed five civilians in an IED attack in Faryab.


Iraq

Insurgents killed five policemen and a doctor in attacks in Baghdad, Baqubah, and Kirkuk. The US has delayed the transfer of Hezbollah commander Ali Mussa Daqduq to Iraqi custody.



Syria

Security forces killed 11 people while attacking anti-regime protesters in Mleeha, Homs, and Idlib. Security forces deployed tanks against protesters in Homs, human rights activists said.


India

‘Pakistan nurtured terror groups, army projected India as threat’


Somalia

Shabaab’s spokesman said that foreign aid agencies were not permitted to distribute famine relief in areas under its control. Norway said that the famine in Somalia is a good reason to negotiate with Shabaab.





Germany

Police arrested an Internet jihadist known as Omid H. near Kassel. Omid supported al Qaeda and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan by publishing videos and statements with the intent to recruit new members and “incite … radicalism and ideological-motivated violence.”

North Korea and Iran ‘jointly working on building nuclear missile’, report claims


Afghanistan

Two men who claimed to be British citizens were arrested in Herat for working with the Taliban. Security forces killed and captured several Taliban leaders and fighters in Kandahar, Wardak, Laghman, Baghlan, and Balkh.


Pakistan

Four people were killed in an IED attack in Jaffarabad. The Taliban torched a tanker carrying fuel for NATO forces.


Yemen

The military claimed it killed two senior Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula leaders, Aidh al Shabwani and Awadh Mohammed Saleh al Shabwani, during fighting in Zinjibar. Aidh is AQAP’s commander for Marib province.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula confirmed that two senior commanders, Ali Abdullah Naji al Harithi and Ammar Abadah Nasser al Wa’eli, were killed in a June 3 airstrike that was carried out by US forces.AQAP announced their deaths in Inspire.



Iraq
