Bombings in downtown Oslo killed at least 7 people, and damaged the offices of governmental ministries and news organizations. An al Qaeda-linked jihadist claimed the attack was in retaliation for Norway’s troop deployment in Afghanistan. On the island of Utoeya, a gunman killed at least 20 persons at a political youth camp.
