Libya

House rebukes Obama for continuing Libyan mission without its consent


Al Qaeda

Al Qaeda released a propaganda videotape that included statements from Ayman al Zawahiri, Abu Yahya al Libi, Attiya Allah, and Adam Gadahn. The al Qaeda leaders called for Muslim worldwide to wage jihad in their home countries.


Pakistan

US Predators killed five “militants” in an airstrike in South Waziristan. Hundreds of Taliban fighters attacked another outpost in Upper Dir. Four people were wounded in an IED attack in Khyber.


Kashmir

Security forces killed three Lashkar-e-Taiba fighters during a 12-hour-long firefight in Sopore. Abdullah Babu, a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, was among those killed.


Afghanistan

Security forces killed and captured several Taliban commanders and fighters in Uruzgan, Kandahar, Zabul, Ghazni, Khost, Wardak, Nangarhar, and Baghlan. The Taliban killed two ISAF soldiers in the south, and killed a police chief and kidnapped a member of the provincial council in Bamyan.

Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan

The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan released a martyrdom tape about “Abdullah the Essen,” a German citizen known as Miqdad who wanted “to kill Germans.” He was killed by US forces on April 23, 2011.






Iraq

Seventeen people were killed and more than 50 were wounded outside a mosque in Tikrit that is visited by government officials. Two provincial councilors and a senior police officer were wounded in the attack.


Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters are reported to have taken control of the Maqateen seaport in Abyan province. AQAP is said to be in control of the cities of Zinjibar in Abyan and Azzam in Shabwa.


Yemen

President Saleh and Prime Minister Mujawar were wounded during an artillery attack on the presidential palace in Sana’a. The government blamed Sheikh Sadiq al Ahmar, the leader of a large tribal confederation, for the attack.


Syria

Security forces killed 10 protesters in Hama. According to a human rights group, more than 50,000 people gathered in Hama to protest against the regime.


Somalia

Shabaab claimed that an American citizen named Abdullahi Ahmed carried out the May 30 suicide attack at a military base in Mogadishu. The FBI is investigating the claim.
