Al Qaeda

Ustadz Ahmed Farooq, al Qaeda’s spokesman and propaganda chief for Pakistan, may have been killed in the June 2 Predator strike that killed Ilyas Kashmiri.


Iraq

The aide to the parliament speaker was killed in Baghdad. An oil reserve field at the Zubeir Oil Field was set aflame in a rocket attack. The Iraq Drilling Co. has begun repairing wells and drilling for oil in the Hamrin mountains north of Baghdad.





Yemen

President Saleh has been transported to Saudi Arabia to receive medical treatment after being wounded in a rocket attack on Friday. Four soldiers from Ali Muhsen Al Ahmer 1st Armored Division were killed in a rocket attack in Sana’a.


Somalia

African Union and Somali forces took control of two more districts in Mogadishu. Burundi’s president said his country would not abandon the mission in Somalia.

The Taliban claimed a “Mujahida sister” carried out a suicide attack in Kunar that killed three interpreters. The Taliban killed four ISAF soldiers in an IED attack in the south and two Afghans in bombings at a university in Kandahar. Pakistan

Security forces killed 26 Taliban fighters in Dir. Three security personnel and two women were gunned down in Peshawar. Police have stopped four foreign nationals in Peshawar.


Iraq

A suicide bomber killed four people, including two policemen, in an attack on a university hospital in Tikrit. A member of parliament was visiting the hospital. Insurgents killed a civil defense colonel in Baghdad.


Yemen

President Saleh is rumored to have been moved to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment after being wounded in a mortar attack yesterday. The DoD said it has seen no evidence that Yemeni counterterrorism forces trained by the US military were involved in suppressing protests.





Kenya

Shabaab is believed to have planted and detonated an IED that wounded 11 Kenyan soldiers in Mandera. The soldiers were being transported to Kenya’s northern border with Somalia.
