US troops killed 27 Haqqani Network fighters as they attempted to attack a base in Khost. Security forces killed and captured scores of Taliban and Haqqani Network commanders and fighters in Kandahar, Helmand, Ghazni, and Khost. The Taliban killed two civilians in an IED attack in Nimroz and an ISAF soldier in the south.
