A bomb threat phoned in from a local phone booth caused the Eiffel Tower to be evacuated briefly today; on Sept. 14 a similar anonymous bomb threat also resulted in the evacuation of the tower and its environs. French authorities have been on high alert for possible terror attacks since Sept. 16, when a specific threat of suicide bombing to the Paris public transportation system surfaced.
