Afghanistan

The Taliban took control of the district of Barg-e-Matal in Nuristan, claimed they killed one US sailor and captured another in Logar, and kidnapped a candidate for parliament in Ghazni. Coalition and Afghan forces killed 50 Taliban fighters in Nuristan and detained several Taliban and Haqqani Network leaders and fighters in Helmand, Kandahar, Logar, Khost, and Zabul. Police freed three Bangladeshis in Samagan.
