The Taliban killed four ISAF soldiers in clashes in the east, west, and south, and wounded three civilians in a suicide attack in Herat. Security forces killed two Taliban fighters and detained three Taliban commanders and 12 fighters during raids in Badakhshan, Ghor, Logar, and Helmand. The Afghan military claimed 22,000 Afghan troops would be deployed to Kandahar.
