A suicide bomber killed 15 Iraqis in an attack in Baqubah. Insurgents killed a civilian in an IED attack in Baghdad and a US soldier in the north. Security forces detained 17 insurgents in Kirkuk, 15 wanted men in Diyala, and seven al Qaeda operatives in Mosul and Taji.

The Taliban beheaded six Afghan policemen in Baghlan after overrunning a police checkpoint, and killed an ISAF soldier in the south. Coalition and Afghan forces killed and captured an undisclosed number of Taliban fighters in Kunduz, Kabul, and Helmand.


Russia

A squad of fighters from the Islamic Caucasus Emirate attacked a power station in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkariya in southern Russia. Two security guards were killed and the attackers blew up two of the plant’s three power generators.
