A second Christmas Day attack was in the works to coincide with Abdulmutallab’s failed airliner bombing. Overseas intelligence reports that extremists were targeting restaurants and nightclubs in New York City. The plot included smuggling explosive devices from Nairobi to London to New York by using Somali and Caucasian men to transport and carry out the attack.
