The Taliban killed a district police chief in Ghazni and a tribal leader in Kunar, and bombed a school in Ghazni. The Taliban’s May 22 assault on Kandahar airfield forced the cancellation of a visit of top British ministers. Coalition forces detained a Taliban commander and an undisclosed number of fighters in Helmand, Kandahar, and Zabul.
