Twenty-three people were killed in clashes between the military and Islamist groups in Mogadishu over the past two days. Two soldiers and a civilian were killed in fighting between government forces in the capital. Hizbul Islam has imposed a tax on the khat trade. Turkish naval forces detained 13 pirates.
