Shabaab has taken control of the towns of Masagaway and Galad. Two Somali soldiers were killed in an IED attack in Afgoi. Fighting between Shabaab and Somali forces continued in Mogadishu; one civilian was killed. The Spanish navy detained eight Somali pirates.
