The Taliban killed five civilians in an IED attack in Herat. Coalition and Afghan forces killed and captured an undisclosed number of Taliban and Haqqani Network fighters in Kandahar, Paktika, Wardak, and Zabul. The US is pushing Canada to keep its combat forces in Afghanistan past the 2011 drawdown date.
