Twenty-three Taliban and allied fighters died during a cold snap in Baghlan province. Coalition and Afghan forces killed a Taliban commander and detained three more commanders and an undisclosed number of fighters during raids in Khost, Helmand, Kandahar, and Zabul. The UN believes opium production will drop this year.
