Mauritania

Two Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb fighters have been arrested by Mauritanian authorities. The two men were arrested after exchanging fire with authorities from three vehicles in northeast Zouerate. The AQIM members were entering the country from Mali.


Pakistan

The military confirmed that Afghan Taliban deputy leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar was arrested and is in ISI custody in Karachi. Security forces killed six Taliban fighters in Kurram. A tribal policeman was killed in a bombing in Mohmand. A court rejected bail for five Americans captured while trying to join al Qaeda.
