Security forces killed six Taliban fighters in South Waziristan and detained 13 terrorists in Punjab, 10 Taliban fighters in Mohmand and Swat, and an al Qaeda operative in Quetta.

Thailand

A force of 200 Thai police and soldiers surrounded a house in Pattani province, laying siege to insurgents inside. In an intense 20-minute battle, six insurgents were killed and two police officers were wounded. Authorities were able to breach and secure the house.

Somalia

Five civilians were killed after Shabaab attacked government troops in Mogadishu. Iraqi security forces detained 19 wanted men in Basrah, nine al Qaeda car bomb cell members in Baghdad, Kirkuk, and Diyala, and two insurgents south of Baghdad, and defused an EFP in Thi Qhar. Insurgents killed an Awakening leader in Diyala and wounded six Iraqis in attacks in Fallujah and Kirkuk.


Afghanistan

Afghan and Coalition forces killed nine Taliban fighters and two commanders and detained 23 more during operations in Wardak and Kunduz provinces. The Taliban killed 10 Afghans in yesterday’s attack in Kapisa and four construction workers in Kunduz, and beheaded two civilians in Farah.
