A suicide bomber killed a guard outside the naval headquarters in Islamabad. Security forces killed 10 Taliban fighters in Hangu and detained 128 more, killed a Taliban commander and a fighter in Kurram and detained 12 more, detained 14 Taliban fighters in Swat, and captured nine Lashkar-e-Islam fighters in Khyber.


United States

US Army Major Nidal Hasan has been charged with 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder for the Nov. 5 shooting rampage at Fort Hood. Hasan has already been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder.

Iraq

Iraqi security forces killed one al Qaeda fighter and detained two commanders and eight al Qaeda operatives in Ninewa, As Sadiya, and Duluiyah, and detained five wanted men in Basrah. Insurgents killed a soldier and a civilian in Baghdad.


Afghanistan

The US will deploy an additional 30,000 troops; Poland has pledged an additional 600 troops. Afghan and US forces killed six Taliban fighters in Kunar and detained several more in Kandahar. The Taliban killed four policemen in an IED attack in Helmand and one US soldier in the South.
