Shabaab in Mogadishu reportedly split into two groups after a disagreement over the formation of an Islamic government in the capital. Shabaab issued a decree ordering men in Kismayo to grow beards. Hundreds of Ethiopian troops crossed the border and established a base at the strategic Kalaber junction.
