Police in Berlin launched raids on 26 buildings and locations in search of three Islamist extremists connected to a 15-man cell thought to be plotting attacks in Russia. “Based on information from abroad and international police investigations, there was reason to suspect that an Islamist of Arabic descent living in Berlin, as the head of a … roughly 15-member group, was planning terrorist attacks in Russia,” German prosecutors said in a statement.
