The governor of Kunduz said the Taliban shadow governor and 14 Taliban fighters were killed during operations in the province; the Taliban denied the report. Afghan and Coalition forces captured a Taliban IED cell leader in Kandahar. The Taliban killed five Afghan soldiers in an IED attack in Paktia, two ISAF soldiers in an IED attack in southern Afghanistan, one policeman in Wardak, and a British soldier in Helmand on Sept. 2.
