Indonesia

Indonesia: terrorists recruit teens at sports clubs, schools



United States

A federal judge ordered Najibullah Zazi, the main suspect in the busted terror plot to conduct attacks in the US, to be held without bail. Stadiums and hotels across the US have been alerted to be on the lookout for hydrogen-peroxide bombs hidden in backpacks.



Pakistan

Forty-five Pakistani troops and 34 Taliban fighters were killed during clashes in North and South Waziristan. Security forces detained a Taliban commander and 10 fighters in Swat and Malakand. The Taliban bombed a girls’ school in Peshawar. The US Congress approved $2.376 billion in aid for Pakistan.


Al Qaeda

Ayman al Zawahiri, al Qaeda’s second in command, released a 106-minute-long videotape titled “The West and the Dark Tunnel.” Adam Gadahn was also featured on the tape, which focused on attacking Presidents Obama and Bush, and portraying the US prison and interrogation facilities as torture machines.

Italy

A 41 year old Algerian national has been arrested in Rome, Italy. He is alleged to have links to the Islamic organization, the Armed Islamic Group (GIA). He is wanted by Algerian authorities for his terrorist links. Although holding an Irish passport, the man has evaded an extradition order issued by Algeria since 2003.
