More than 500,000 demonstrators have taken to the streets of Tehran and are organizing in other cities to protest the reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Mir Hussein Moussavi, Ahmadinejad’s rival, appeared in public, debunking reports he was arrested, and called for calm. Just one day after calling the outcome a “divine assessment,” Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called for an investigation into the vote count.
