Two suicide bombers killed 20 civilians, policemen, and soldiers in a coordinated attack in the Gereshk district in Helmand province. Eight civilians were killed in an IED attack in Nangarhar province. Afghan and Coalition forces killed one Taliban fighter in Paktika province and detained seven more in Nangarhar. General Petraeus said al Qaeda’s senior leadership is no longer operating in Afghanistan.
