Al Qaeda in Iraq

The spokesman for the Iraqi Army™s Baghdad Operations Command presented television footage of the purported confession of the person the Iraqi government claims is Abu Omar al Baghdadi, the leader of al Qaeda’s Islamic State of Iraq. The man presented said he joined al Qaeda in 2005 and was made the emir in 2006. Al Qaeda in Iraq has denied Baghdadi is in custody.
