The head of the UN mission in Afghanistan urged the Taliban to participate in the upcoming elections. The Taliban captured 14 Afghan soldiers and an interpreter in the Ghazi Abad district in Kunar Province. Four Afghans, including two children, were killed in an IED attack at a market in the Gereshk district in Helmand province. Afghan forces detained a Taliban commander in in the Marawara district in Kunar province.
