Iraq

Security forces detained 37 insurgents in Diyala, 36 in Basrah, 12 in Amarah, and two more in Babil. The Iraqi Integrity Committee vowed to arrest senior Trade Ministry officials who evaded arrest. Members of Iraq’s parliament said Sunni parties are pressing for the release of jailed insurgents.

Denmark

Danish intelligence believes Amer Saeed, an Iraqi immigrant, was the chief suicide bomber recruiter for Northern Europe. Saeed worked with Moroccans to send bombers to al Qaeda in Iraq. Intelligence attempted to have him deported but he remains in Denmark on humanitarian grounds.
