The military launched an operation in Buner and claimed more than 70 Taliban and 10 troops were killed during operations in Dir; the Taliban disputed the casualties and said only four fighters were killed. The Taliban captured 60 security personnel in Buner. In Swat, the Taliban captured five policemen and ordered the media not to write negative articles about the group.
