The US has authorized 8,000 Marines and 9,000 soldiers to deploy to Afghanistan by the summer. The Afghan government has granted amnesty to 60 former Taliban fighters who claimed they had been coerced or tricked into fighting. British troops destroyed four drug labs during a large operation in Helmand province.
