Seven police were killed during a Taliban attack on a police outpost in Mianwali. The Taliban kidnapped 35 civilians in Hangu, killed three soldiers in Swat, beheaded a Polish engineer, killed a “US spy” in North Waziristan, and destroyed two NATO vehicles in Peshawar. Eight Taliban were killed in Bajaur. Tribes in Mohmand said they back the military operations in the northwest.
