Hamas attempted to kidnap Israeli sodiers by luring them into tunnels. Hamas launched more than 30 rockets into southern Israel; one hit an empty school in Ashdod.
The Taliban
The Taliban claimed it killed 5,220 US and NATO troops and 7,552 Afghan soldiers and police, destroyed 2,818 NATO and Afghan vehicles, and downed 31 NATO aircraft during operations in 2008. The statement was made on the Taliban website. In reality, only 286 US and NATO troops were killed in Afghanistan.
