A senior politician in the Northwest Frontier Province said the people of Swat “have lost confidence in the government and the army.”
A senior provincial politician said the government has lost control of Swat. Thirteen Taliban, five civilians, and one soldier were killed in Swat. Three people were killed and a shipping terminal was set ablaze after the Taliban attacked a NATO convoy in Peshawar.
Iraqi forces arrested 73 wanted men in Maysan province and 43 more in Wasit province. Coalition forces captured 18 al Qaeda operatives during raids nationwide. A suicide bomber killed one policeman and wounded 10 Iraqis in Kirkuk.
Shabaab has taken control of Gurael. Fighting has broken out in Dhobley. Shabaab established an Islamic court in Marka. Three Somalis were killed in a bombing in Baidoa.
