The Somali government permitted foreign countries to hunt down pirates in Somali waters. Nine people were killed and 13 were wounded in a Shabaab mortar attack in Mogadishu. The Islamic Courts imposed a curfew in Beledweyne and warned the residents of Kismayo to observe Eid celebrations.
