The government signed peace agreements with two senior Taliban leaders in North and South Waziristan. The Oct. 16 strike in South Waziristan may have killed senior al Qaeda leader Khalid Habib. Security forces claimed to have killed 75 Taliban fighters in an attack on a camp in Swat. The Taliban is pressuring the Awami National Party to change its policy on extremism.
