Police captured three Qods Force officers in Al Kut. Iraqi troops killed a Saudi al Qaeda leader in Diyala province. Iraqi forces detained 65 suspected insurgents in Ninewa province, 15 in Baghdad, and ten in Maysan province. Coalition forces captured 15 al Qaeda operatives in and around Baghdad.




Somalia

Fighting broke out between Shabaab and the Islamic Courts in the town of Balad; Islamic Courts fighters fled the town after the clash. Four Somalis were killed in the Islamic Courts-controlled town of Abudwaq. A United Nation employee was killed in Hudur; he is the second UN employee killed since Oct. 18.

NATO’s commander said the organization’s political will is “sometimes wavering.” Italy’s foreign minister rejected the call for more troops. A suicide bomber killed five children and two German soldiers. The Taliban took credit for murdering a female aid worker in Kabul. Afghan troops killed 34 Taliban during fighting near Lashkar Gah.
