The Somali government permitted foreign countries to hunt down pirates in Somali waters. Nine people were killed and 13 were wounded in a Shabaab mortar attack in Mogadishu. The Islamic Courts imposed a curfew in Beledweyne and warned the residents of Kismayo to observe Eid celebrations.



Thailand

Three Special Forces soldiers were severely wounded after their convoy was ambushed by Islamist terrorists in Narathiwat province in the South. Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat denied the government has been negotiating with Islamist insurgents as he prepares to visit the region.

Al Qaeda in Iraq has used 24 children to carry out suicide bombings in Iraq over the past two years. “Of the 24 children, five had a mental disability,” Iraq’s interior ministry stated. Sixteen women have carried out suicide attacks in Iraq this year.
