Indonesia

Indonesia has charged Jemaah Islamiyah operatives Abu Husna, Agus Purwanto, and Parmin with training fighters and assisting in the Bali bombings. Jemaah Islamiyah operatives Amrozi, Mukhlas, and Imam Samudra may face a firing squad next week. The three were convicted for involvement with the Bali bombings.



Pakistan

Security forces killed 47 Taliban fighters during fighting in Bajaur and Swat. A tribal jirga met in Swat and proposed a new seven-point peace plan. The Taliban freed three police recruits in Hangu. Jamaat-e-Islami leader Qazi Hussain Ahmad said the government said supporting the tribes against the Taliban will lead to civil war.


United States

A 20-year old American man named Juddi Kenan was arrested by Pakistani police while trying to enter the Mohmand tribal agency. Kenan has a US passport and is said to be from Florida. Pakistani police are trying to determine if he is a journalist, tourist, researcher, or a members of al Qaeda or the Taliban.


Iraq

Iraqi forces detained seven Special Groups fighters in Nasariyah and four in Amarah. Police captured a female suicide bomber and four al Qaeda operatives in Diyala province. Shabaab executed a militia leader in Kismayo. Sixteen people were killed in fighting in southern Somalia. The leader of the Organization of the Islamic Conference met with Islamic Courts leader Sheikh Sharif Ahmad.
