An Afghan policeman killed a US soldier after he opened fire on a patrol in Paktika; US forces returned fire and killed the policeman. Three Canadian soldiers were wounded in an IED attack in the Zhari district in Kandahar. ISAF is investigating reports of civilian casualties in an an airstrike in the Nad Ali district in Helmand province.
