Afghan and ISAF forces killed 19 Taliban fighters during an operation in Wardak province. A former bodyguard of President Karzai and his father were killed in a shooting outside a mosque. Five ISAF troops were wounded in a suicide attack in Herat. ISAF said the Taliban fired rockets into the town of Lashkar Gah after an airstrike that is thought to have killed 17 civilians.
