The Frontier Corps has abandoned several outposts in South Waziristan. US officials said Pakistani intelligence was behind the Indian embassy bombing in Kabul, Afghanistan. A Taliban spokesman said suicide attacks would be carried out in revenge for the Swat operation. Police set up 20 posts in Peshawar in an effort to prevent Taliban attacks. Security forces came up empty handed during a raid targeting al Qaeda operatives in Malakand. Tribal leaders in Dir vowed to oppose the encroachment of the Taliban.
