Iraqi forces captured 25 Mahdi Army fighters in Dhi Qhar. Iraqi forces killed four al Qaeda fighters and captured three in Diyala. Coalition forces detained 13 al Qaeda operatives. Five civilians were killed and seven wounded in an IED attack in Kirkuk. An adviser to the culture ministry was killed in Baghdad and eight civilians were kidnapped in Baqubah. The government promised to incorporate 13,000 Sons of Iraq fighters in Baghdad into the security forces.
