The Sunni Accord Front has rejoined the government, but 100 members of parliament walked out over the list of Sunni leaders presented for ministry positions. The Najaf tribes will compete against Shia religious groups in the upcoming election. Iraqi forces captured a leader of the “Popular Committees” in Diyala and a leader of the 1920s Revolution Brigades in Najaf. Iraqi forces captured two al Qaeda operatives and 10 Mahdi Army fighters. US forces detained five “criminals” in Baghdad and a Special Groups leader in Taji.
