Five police were killed in attacks in Ghazni and Ghor provinces. A US helicopter was damaged by Taliban ground fire as the crew dropped off supplies to a base in Nuristan province. ISAF forces fended off four Taliban attacks in Kunar province. Afghan and Coalition forces killed “several” Taliban and detained three in Kapsia province.

Twelve people are reported to have been killed in twin bombings at a train station in the town of Beni Amrane in Boumerdes. The first bomb killed a French engineer and his driver; the second killed 10 Algerians as they arrived at the scene to evacuate the wounded in the first blast.
