A Coalition operation targeted a Taliban compound in Paktika province; 31 Taliban fighters and up to nine civilians were killed during the fighting an airstrike, while another 12 Taliban were detained. Afghan counternarcotics officials found and burned 260 tons of hashish worth $400 million near Spin Boldak in Kandahar province in what is described as the world’s largest drug bust.
