One policeman was killed and two more were injured in a roadside bombing in Swat. Pakistani authorities and the Taliban led by Maulana Fazlullah have declared a cease-fire in the volatile Swat Valley. The Taliban said they are holding six soldiers in Bajaur agency while the Pakistani Army claimed only one soldier is missing. The new government in Pakistan has released Akthar Mengal, a nationalist leader from Balochistan province, from prison.
