Khadim Ould Seman has been identified as the leader of al Qaeda in Mauritania, which is a regional branch of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. Seman is thought to be behind the attack on the Israeli Embassy in February as well as behind the murder of four French tourists in December 2007.
