Iraqi troops started operations to disarm militias in Basrah. Five civilians were killed and 22 were wounded in an unidentified rocket attack in Sadr City. Two “criminals” were killed in a UAV strike in northeastern Baghdad. Six al Qaeda operatives and two leaders were captured during raids in central and northern Iraq. Coalition forces dismantled an IED factory in Diyala province.
